Program Highlights

  • Take three specialized courses in addition to the core MMFT curriculum: Theory and Practice of Medical Family Therapy; Illness, Disability, Death, and Dying Across the Lifespan; and Intervention in Medical Family Therapy.
  • Seek initial licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy therapist in Texas* with elective selections of Group Psychotherapy and Career Counseling.
  • Gain membership in the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT).
  • Be part of a Christ-centered online community with professors and classmates.

Our Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT) program provides a unique approach to learning. In addition to online courses, you’ll complete a clinical internship to gain professional clinical training and hands-on therapy practice. With our Medical Family Therapy specialization, you can focus on serving grieving families.

*Non-Texas residents are advised to confirm and review the particular LMFT licensure requirements in the state in which they reside or plan to practice as a therapist.

A Flexible Way to Help Fix Families

In designing its online MMFT program, ACU sought to reach those who have a strong desire to help families heal but whose own family or other obligations require sufficient time away from the classroom.

Listen to program director Dr. Sara Blakeslee Salkil, dean Dr. Jaime Goff, and MMFT student Whitney Henderson and graduate Beau Davis share how this program meets those objectives and blesses not only their own lives, but the lives of those with whom they interact.
